The fat soluble vitamin, Vitamin K plays a major role in relieving blood clots. Unfortunately, this essential element is not synthesized by the body and needs the external supply to suffice its need.
Vitamin K is an essential nutrient mainly found in fresh and green leafy vegetables. It is a fat soluble vitamin and thus gets easily absorbed by the liver and fat tissues in the body. The predominant role of the vitamin is to prevent the formation of blood clots and encourage a steady stream of blood flow. Those kids who have a severe deficiency of this vitamin owing to their poor eating habits, experience symptoms like bleeding nose, bleeding gums and more. Furthermore, it is significant to note that adequate presence of this vitamin is requisite for proper absorption of calcium into the bones. Therefore, the higher the presence of Vitamin K, the greater is the bone density. Consequently, low levels of this vitamin leads to a condition called osteoporosis which may erupt when the child reaches his middle age. It is for the same reason, kids are often encouraged to consume the essential dietary sources of this nutrient as it reduces the risk of fractures in the early stage and osteoporosis in the later stages of life.
In case the child is averse to consuming green leafy vegetables, the parents may encourage the increase in intake of other food sources like soybean, alfalfa, oats, cheese and cauliflower.
Though the supplement has innumerable health benefits, the overdose or following incorrect method of administering the same can neutralize its effects and instead lead to several unwanted side effects. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a doctor before blindly taking its dosage just for the heck of it.
