Fenugreek – Palpable Effects on Breastfed Babies

One may notice these symptoms because of reaction to the herb. The intake of this herb might have increased milk supply in a number of mothers. However babies even get fussy when they are fed with extra milk and symptoms such as green watery stools and gas are basic symptoms as a result of over-supply of milk.

Here are some suggestions that will avoid negative effects of fenugreek herb on your baby. These solutions could be tried for preventing any unfavourable effects on the baby:

  • One should stop intake of the herb as soon as one notices any of the above mentioned side effects. But it is advisable to not shift to any other herb and instead firstly consult your doctor if you are experiencing low supply of milk and the intake of this herb is causing over-production of milk. Hence, it is necessary to seek medical guidance for such complex situations.
  • At times, mothers try to maintain over-production of milk, to avoid pumping milk on frequent intervals. In such conditions, stopping the intake of this herb and checking whether the symptoms are repeated again.

It is crucial to understand whether your body truly requires the intake of fenugreek. Mostly, mothers assume that their supply of milk is very low, which might not actually be the case. Hence it is increasingly important to comprehend apt scenarios prior to starting off on any herb intake.
